Blythe Bridge Community Library managed by the Care and Fun Club have held an exciting open day on 8th October to showcase all the activities on offer. The new name of the library—Blythe Centre—Your Community, Your Library was also unveiled.
This came about after a survey in the library to find out what the community wanted in their library. It was felt if people were given the opportunity to name the library too it would help it to become part of the community.
A bouncy castle, author talks for adults and children, first aid demonstrations and health apps were part of the line up on the day. People could register their interest in coding clubs for children, war hammer, genealogy and Languages for Fun or suggest some event or activity they would love to see happen in the library.
Helen Bickerton, Volunteer Library Manager and Chairperson of the Care and Fun Club added, “we are more than just a library. We are here to support the community and listen to them.”
The event and the good numbers of partners, members of the community and volunteers has already made a real impact in raising the profile of the new Community Managed Library
